RASSEGNA STAMPA

Altough the inspiration for much of this music comes from the folk music of northern Italy , Guiducci has extended it to inhabit an area where folk, jazz and classical music meet and nurture each other into a beatiful hybrid.Guiducci's guitar work throughout is outstanding , wheter as an accompaniment or in solo, and often seems to be the real focus of the music...

Acoustic guitarist Simone Guiducci and his Gramelot Ensemble have defined a new musical language that combine indigenous Northern Italian folk music with modern jazz. Inspired by the invented "gramelot" language of 15th century troubadours , 16th Century Monteverdian fundamental discords and the modern gramelot of playwright Dario Fo, the Ensemble's latest release, Chorale, exposes a quintet that is in a search of a broader musical patois but at the same time is confortable with its roots. Like the troubadours - who drew upon multiple dialects and invented words to produce a gramelot in which word sounds lost their literal meaning so that they could be understood by all - the Gramelot Ensemble has drown upon differing musical styles to produce a cohesive musical experience that all can enjoy .

Claude Oberg (Jazz Magazine ,France)

For Simone Guiducci , folk music offers a direct connection to basic human feelings and jazz is the means to give these feelings contemporary form.In many ways the world that gave us his music folk elements is gone, it can only exist in the immagination. But the feeling and aspirations that the older music expresses - love, community , joy, sadness- endure in the music of Simone Guiducci and the Gramelot Ensemble...

Italialaiskitaristi Simone Guiducci on tavallaan samoilla linjoilla kuin Olavi Virtaa versioivat takalaiset jazzarit.Tosin han on saveltanyt itse levynsa musiikin.saveltajan kuvitteelliseksi kansanperimaski nimeana materiaali on syntynyt alun perin laulaen ja vasta sitten kaantynyt kitaran, klarinetin, haitarin, bassonjalyomienkielelle, melodiseksi ja laulavaksi instrumentaalimusiikiksi.vaikka Gramelot Ensemble operoi jazzin keinon, eika edes katke virtuositeettiaan vakan alle , ei ole vaikeaa aistia savvkkaiden sovitusten taakse katkevtvvaa per-italialaista laulullisuutta.Saati sitten reipasta pelimannihenkea, johon ei tormaa usein jazzpiireissa.

Not only is Italian acoustic guitarist Simone Guiducci a strong soloist , but he's very adept when infusing jazz talents as Chris Speed , Erik Friedlander , Ralph Alessi into his master plan. And of course , Guiducci leads a fine sextet consisting of a clarinet/accordion based attack atop a powerful rhythm section. Guiducci's radiant compositional fortitude features a potpourri of regally pronounced statements and Mediterranean themes , garnished with the soloists' feisty improvisations. No doubt , Guiducci's Gramelot Ensemble performs with overt elements of soul and panache via an idealized sense of purpose, as they combine soft melodies with torrid episodes....Unassumingly charismatic, Guiducci continues to flaunt his personalized approach to modern jazz in a conclusively prolific way !
